KC man who struck pedestrian given 1-year sentence

According to a KCStar article, a man who struck and killed a pedestrian in Kansas City was given a 1-year sentence and a $1,000 fine. The driver had previously pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated and careless driving. Police said that they did not press more serious charges because the pedestrian also was intoxicated.
