We are still signing up persons interested in the "Introduction to Sprawl Study Group". Here is the article from the last Sierrascape. "Introduction to Sprawl Study Group" The EMG Transportation and Smart Growth Committee is sponsoring an Introduction to Sprawl Study group for early spring. For five sessions, the study group will discuss "Road to Ruin, an Introduction to Sprawl and How to Cure It", by Dom Nozzi. The sessions will be scheduled after the sign-ups are in.

The group will discuss how American communities metamorphosed from human-scaled, sociable communities designed for pedestrians, bicyclists, and kids to communities designed for high speed, high volume car travel. We have discovered that the more convenient we make communities for cars, the less livable they become for people. Rush hour, long commutes, congestion, chauffeuring kids everywhere, air pollution, seas of asphalt where there should be open space --- what are the alternatives and how do we get there from here?
