Wired News, the Kansas City Star, CNN, and numerous other news outlets and TV stations have shown stories on the now infamous round-key bicycle locks that can be opened in seconds using a Bic pen. Although the stories keep mentioning Kryptonite locks, in fact pretty much any lock with the round-style key can be opened using the same trick. Now that this trick is so widely known, just about any type of lock will have higher security than a round-key lock.
Here is a page with tips on locking your bike. Kryptonite has announced that it will replace some newer, more expensive locks and will give a discount on replacing some older locks.
