"Share the Road" signs vandalized near Columbia

According to a Columbia Daily Tribune article and a number of reports on online discussion forums for Missouri cyclists, at least three "Share the Road" signs near Columbia have been cut down recently:
The wooden pole was cut clean in half, with the part that had the picture of a bicycle and the sign that said "share the road" forming the hypotenuse of a triangle as it leaned in the ground on the remainder of the pole.

Steve Kullman said he had little doubt about the vandal’s intention: Whoever it was meant to send a message to cyclists such as Kullman that he or she didn’t appreciate having to share the road.
The vandalism may be related to motorist harassment of bicyclists that has been reported on at least two separate occasions in the same area.
