Like about 3 million other children from schools in 36 nations, the children who live on Southeast Browning Street on Wednesday participated in the 10th annual International Walk To School Day.
“This is a good thing,” said Kim Duncan, the parent who escorted the children through the tree-lined streets to school.
“It's good exercise for them, and it's a good day for a walk to school.”
The Raytown School District is piloting a "Walking School Bus" program that MARC Bike/Ped Coordinator Aaron Bartlett hopes will become a model followed across Kansas City and the entire state.
