The following notice is from Shirley Bustamente Winkler of the Kansas City Bicycle Club:
About the Kansas City Bicycle Club
The Kansas City Bicycle Club (KCBC) is a non-profit organization established in 1963 to promote all aspects of cycling.
The monthly newsletter features touring, racing, and distance events, as well as articles of interest submitted by members. The deadline for articles and advertising is the 10th of the month preceding publication.
The KCBC is affiliated with the League of American Bicyclists, a national touring and legislative organization; the United States Cycling Federation, the national amateur racing organization; and Adventure Cycling, a non-profit group for touring bicyclists.
Cyclists can join the club (information on the KCBC web site). Ride leaders can have their rides publicized in the newsletter by emailing the present VP Touring, Carol Hatcher at chatcher@kc.rr.com.
As a member of the Nominating Committee, I am involved in seeking out individuals who would be interested in being on the 2005 ballot for the the following position:
VP of Touring - appoints members of the Touring Committee to organize, plan, coordinate, and promote tours of all kinds meeting the desires of the membership. Conducts general meetings in the absence of the President.
KCBC organizes three major rides, the Fountain Tour, Northland Delights and the Summer Breeze. VP of Touring and Committee coordinate with ride leaders on weekly, weekend and monthly rides in the Kansas City Missouri area.
Ride leaders are always needed in Liberty, Kansas City North, Independence, Grandview, Raytown, Lees Summit, Blue Springs, Midtown, etc. The VP of Touring would help coordinate these rides by making sure there are bike leaders who have maps and can lead safe riding through their communities.
The VP of Touring would have the help of its officers, the volunteer coordinator, and the KC Track Club, who helps with our rides and we in turn help with their Spring Run from Kansas City to Lawrence (a relay run).
In order to qualify for this office, you must be a member of the Kansas City Bicycle Club. To qualify, please check our webside, KCBC.org for a membership form - confirm by email when application was sent to Richard Johnson at richj@northcs.com.
Please contact me ASAP - Ballot deadline is 10/15/04.
