3 NOV 2004: Lone Elm Interchange redux
Submitted by Brent Hugh on Tue, 11/02/2004 - 7:45pm
From Laurie Chipman of the Greater Kansas City Bicycle Federation:
We had another success last night at the Olathe city council meeting. Our Lone Elm Rd. bicycle lane proposal was not talked about separately but was passed with a group of resolutions. The scenario was that they could pick any of those resolutions and pull it for discussion or just not pass it. So our job was to be present and remind them of what we asked for last week.See the previous Advocacy Alert and the result (News article) about Lone Elm for more details.
Now, our proposal will go to KDOT for approval to get funding from the federal enhancement money. Our next step is to write a letter to KDOT telling them that we want them to approve the Lone Elm proposal for bicycle lanes. This letter can be short and without detail. We need to do this because the available money is limited and not all proposals will be approved by KDOT. The proposals with the most support will get noticed.
Write to:Deb Miller, Secretary of TransportationThanks to all those who attended: Carol Hatcher, Doug Rushing, Martha Blackman, Ben Wilson and his son, Ric Tucker, Doug Polson, Marietta Strano, and Sarah Gibson.
