Columbia, MO, bicycle officer tackles escapee

Another good reason for riding a bike (if you're a police officer):
One of three Columbia teens arrested in connection with a recent home invasion and assault escaped police headquarters yesterday afternoon and ran down Broadway with his hands cuffed behind his back, Sgt. Stephen Monticelli said.

Squad cars swarmed the area as police tracked his movements west, but it was Officer Mark Brotemarkle who caught up to the suspect on his bicycle and leapt off to tackle the man at Providence Road and Broadway.
