Two bits of good news for Missouri Bicyclists: KC river crossing & Speaker's Katy Trail Ride
posted by Brent Hugh at 4/03/2005 11:28:00 PM
Two little tidbits--issues where MoBikeFed has been working on your behalf and we have had a good outcome:
  • MoDOT has announced that they will consider all available options for a bicycle/pedestrian crossing of the Missouri River near downtown Kansas City, Missouri, in conjunction with an Environmental Impact Study currently being run on the I29/I35 (Paseo) Bridge. The will also consider funding sources for this crossing.

This is exactly what we asked for and what we wanted!

MoBikeFed worked together with the Greater Kansas City Bicycle Federation, the Kansas City Running Club, and other advocacy organizations, to make our voices heard on this important matter.

Background info on this topic here.

  • Missouri House Speaker Rod Jetton has announced that his Summer 2004 Katy Trail Ride will start on June 20th, 2005 in Clinton, Missouri, and will proceed eastward. (Aside from the start date, the exact itinerary has not been finalized.)

Mr. Jetton is inviting bicyclists from across the state to join him on the ride--for just a day or two or for the whole trip.

The Missouri Bicycle Federation, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the Missouri Department of Transportation, the American Heart Association, and some other organizations will be participating in and supporting this ride.
