Bicycle Safety Bill passes--again!
Submitted by Brent Hugh on Thu, 05/12/2005 - 8:38am
I am VERY pleased to report that the Bicycle Safety Bill has now passed the Missouri legislature--again!
After more than three years of work by many people, both SB372 and HB487 were passed by the Missouri House today and are now listed as "Truly Agreed to and Finally Passed."
That means that the legislature is finished with them and they simply await the governor's signature before passing into law.
Although I have learned to never count my chickens before they are hatched (and thus I will wait until the governor's signature before really celebrating), our lobbyist Jim Farrell believes that there will be no trouble with the governor on these bills.
Thanks particularly goes to Reps Mike Sutherland, Mark Bruns, J.C. Kuessner, and House Speaker Rod Jetton, and Senators Kevin Engler, and Jon Dolan.
These legislators sponsored, handled, or provided key support to the bill at various times this year.
Thanks goes to all of you who have supported MoBikeFed with your membership and financial support--and also taken the time to write or call legislators at key points.
Details about the two bills, including full text of the various versions along the way, can be found here:
