New bike racks at Olivette, Mo. facility give employees a healthy commuting alternative
posted by Brent Hugh at 8/25/2005 04:06:00 PM
St. Louis area bicycle commuter and St. Louis Regional Bicycle Federation Board Member Jeff Jackson was responsible for having these new bicycle racks installed at his workplace:
Two new bike racks were recently installed at the U.S. Bank Olivette Operations Center in Olivette, Mo., supporting a healthy, environmentally-friendly option for transportation to work.

Olivette employee Jeff Jackson, a board member with the St. Louis Regional Bicycle Federation, has been commuting to work since 2003. He has seen an increased interest in bicycle commuting in recent years.

"In these times of ever increasing gas prices, 'peak oil' and the obesity epidemic, biking to work is a great commuting alternative," says Jeff. "By investing in bicycling facilities, U.S. Bank is promoting transportation options that are both cost-effective and healthy for employees."

The two new bike racks can accommodate a total of eight bikes. New employees at the Olivette Operations Center will be informed about the new bike racks during employee orientation.

Olivette is already connected to the Olivette Bikeway, and is also near the Centennial Greenway, a future 20-mile trail connecting Forrest Park, Mo. to Creve Coeur Park, Mo. Created by the Great Rivers Greenway District, the trails provide even greater access for commuters outside the city to bike or walk to work.
