12 DEC 2005: Missouri State University indoor track and cross country programs to be cut
Submitted by Brent Hugh on Mon, 12/12/2005 - 6:24am
The following announcement was posted to the KCRunning group this week:
The President of Missouri State University in Springfield announced the recommendation today to cut Men's Cross county and Track Programs.See news articles about the proposed cuts here and here.
He wants it approved in the Board of Governor's meeting next Friday, December 16th.
Please e-mail the President of MSU and the Board of Governors and voice your displeasure.
The Board of Governors is appointed by Governor Matt Blunt.
The president of the university wants this fast tracked to minimize opposition.
Attached are some stats regarding the program.
President of MSU: Michael Nietzel, e-mail address: mtn797f@MissouriState.edu
When e-mailing the Governor you must fill out a form here to submit e-mail.
I do not know if this will make difference but we cannot let our sport die quietly. Universities all across the country are starting to cut cross country and track programs, mainly men's, because of Title IX.
Thanks,
Matt Wegenka
