Complete the Katy Trail campaign in KCStar
Submitted by Brent Hugh on Tue, 04/18/2006 - 6:19pm
The Kansas City Star's Mike Hendricks wrote a column today about Governor Blunt's announcement that he supports the Katy Trail Connection to Kansas City:
We deluged the Blunt administration with e-mails last summer. In two minutes you can email the state of Missouri and Ameren asking them to Complete the Katy Trail.
But it took an actual flood before the governor started pushing seriously for a Katy Trail connection to the Kansas City area.
Hey, whatever works.
If the state can get a KC-Katy link as partial compensation for the Taum Sauk reservoir disaster, it would be sweet, as Napoleon Dynamite might say.
“This would leave only one small portion of the trail to be completed before Missouri would have a cross-state trail from St. Louis to Kansas City,” Gov. Matt Blunt said in a statement Friday. . . .
The upshot?
If the state gets to use that right of way as part of a settlement, someday it would be possible to hop on your bike in KC and ride the Katy clear across the state.
That might seem like insanity to you. But some of us are crazy enough to want to do it.
