PedNET and Columbia nonmotorized pilot program

The Columbia Missourian has the low-down on Columbia's $22 million non-motorized pilot program:
What is the $22 million for?

- The money will be used in Columbia for a pedestrian and bicycle transportation network, PedNet, which will increase the number of nonmotorized pathways in the city, such as bike lanes, sidewalks and trails. . . .

Why was Columbia chosen?

- Sen. Bond said, “The City of Columbia has long been a leader in supporting alternative means of transportation.” Hesaid, “In addition to encouraging walking and bicycling to reduce congestion and pollution, this project will promote healthy living for area residents. I am pleased I was able to secure funding to make this innovative program a reality.”
