The Polk County Bicycle Club is taking preregistrations for its Aug. 5 "Sack Lunch at the Sac River" ride to help raise money to rebuild the burned-out bridge crossing the Little Sac River on the Frisco Highline Trail.Polk County Bicycle Club web site, with more info about the ride, is here.
Riders can make a 28-mile round trip starting at the trailhead near Bolivar Middle School or a four-mile ride from Wishart to the bridge.
The ride from Bolivar starts at 8 a.m., while riders starting at Wishart can join the ride at 10 a.m.
The club set up the ride after a fire destroyed the wooden deck and railing on the bridge June 9. Ozark Greenways aims to raise $100,000 to rebuild the bridge by September.
