Raytown, Missouri, Mayor Sue Frank named to National Safe Routes to School
Saturday, November 18, 2006
In a Nov. 13th
message, Federal Safe Routes to School Program Manager, Tim Arnade, announced the selection of members for the new National Safe Routes to School Task Force. Tim offered his thanks to "many of you for your interest in the National Safe Routes to School Task Force and for those that applied, your offer of public service. We had many more applications than we could accommodate (appointment or regret letter should have been received now by anyone that applied)."

Only 17 members were accepted onto the National SRTS Task Force. Missouri is well represented by Raytown Mayor Sue Frank, who as a member of the Mid-America Regional Council Board of Directors will be representing National Association of Regional Councils.

Frank has been interested in and supportive of bicycle and pedestrian issues as Raytown Mayor and as a MARC Board Member. Frank has been an initiator of the Raytown Bicycle Task Force and has hosted a Mayor's Bicycle Ride in Raytown the past three years. Raytown schools have been involved in some of the early Safe Routes to Schools activities in the Kansas City area. A Raytown school recently was the site of a national SRTS training session, which was intended to kick of a new SRTS program for that school.
