Cycle for Heart meets Missouri legislature
Submitted by Brent Hugh on Wed, 05/09/2007 - 2:27am
Chris Figureida from Cycle for Heart, who is bicycling across the country promoting healthy lifestyle and the importance of heart health, spent much of today meeting with legislators and state leaders in Jefferson City.
Chris was introduced on the floor of the House by Representative Mike Sutherland, met Speaker Rod Jetton, Floor Leader Tom Dempsey, representatives of the Governor's office, Rep. Shannon Cooper, and Rep. TD El-amin.
On Monday, Chris met with Kansas City leaders and MoBikeFed board member Eric Rogers.
Saturday Chris will be arriving in St. Louis. He invites anyone who wants to ride with him to ride out along Hwy 100/Manchester Ave at 3PM on Saturday, May 12th, 2007. If you ride out at 3PM, planning to ride about 10 miles out, you will meet Chris along the way and then can ride back with him. He will ride Manchester Blvd to Broadway to the Adams Mark Hotel where he is staying. His cell phone is 805-665-8796.
Chris's visit to the legislature is a great prelude to Missouri Bicycle Advocacy Day Monday May 14th, which coincides the visit of and presentation to the legislature of Missouri cycling legend John Howard.
