"Share the Road" education & enforcement effort this week in KC

According to a KCStar article:

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and other area law enforcement agencies are participating in an effort to encourage motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians to share the road.

The operation started Monday with volunteers handing out leaflets at 39th Street and State Line Road spelling out the rules that govern how the three groups of travelers are legally obligated to interact on area streets.

One rule being reinforced requires bicyclists to obey the same laws governing motorists.

As part of the effort, the agencies will step up enforcement of such traffic laws this week through Saturday.
This enforcement effort, which also includes enforcement of motorists who fail pass bicyclists safely or fail to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks, has been organized by the Kansas City Share the Road Safety Task Force.

The Missouri Bicycle Federation is a member of the Task Force.
