Levi Leipheimer's bicycle to visit Capitol for Bicycle Day Feb 26th

Missouri Bicyclists,
Levi Leipheimer rides the Tour of Missouri

Some really great things are coming together for Bicycle Day at the Capitol next Tuesday.

The most exciting (for me anyway ;-) is that I just heard from Jeff Chattin, the Trek rep for Missouri, and Trek has sent the bike Levi Leipheimer rode in the Tour of Missouri for display at Bicycle Day.

Jeff says:
It is a one of a kind stars and stripes paint job to commemorate his 2007 road National Championship.

The bike is currently on display at Walt's Bike Shop [in Columbia] if anyone wants to go check it out before next Tuesday.
James Allen of Springfield will be there with a couple of interesting antique bicycles and some other items to display.

We're trying to have constituents email *every one* of Missouri's 197 representatives and senators in the lead-up to Bicycle Day. Lots of districts have only one or two MoBikeFed members or supporters, so every single person who can do this really helps. Find your legislator & a sample letter here:

Here is the message we sent Missouri legislators today:

Bicycle Day at the Capitol is Tuesday, February 26th.

We are supporting the Safe Streets bill (HB2205) and the Complete Streets bill (HB2206), both sponsored by Representative Mike Sutherland.

Bicycle Day Highlights:

* Awards presentations at 10:30 and 10:45 in the Senate Lounge

* Antique bicycle display in the 3rd floor rotunda

* Levi Leipheimer's bicycle on display in the 3rd floor rotunda

Trek Bicycle will display the bicycle ridden by American cyclist Levi Leipheimer when he rode in the 2007 Tour of Missouri.

Leipheimer is a "rock star" of the international bicycle racing world. He rode with Lance Armstrong's team for several of Armstrong's Tour de France wins, has 3 top-ten Tour de France finished to his credit, won the time trial of the 2007 Tour of Missouri, and took top honors in the 2007 Tour of California.

The antique bicycle display is courtesy James Allen of Springfield. Allen has ridden and displayed his rare and valuable bicycles across the U.S.

We'll look forward to seeing you Tuesday!
