Mountain biking is coming to the heart of Missouri's largest city with the first segment of a new trail system in Kansas City's Swope Park. The new hiking and biking trails will join popular park institutions like the Kansas City Zoo, Starlight Theater, and the Lakeside Nature Center.
The new trails are being developed by volunteers with
EarthRiders, which already maintains an impressive 100-plus miles of trails within 30 minutes of Downtown KC. The Swope Park trail system will bring mountain biking to a whole new audience and make it even more accessible to many in the KC region. At 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, EarthRiders and KC Parks & Rec will hold a special ribbon cutting and dedication for the first trail segment.
