Kansas City council approves Bike/Ped Action Plan
posted by Brent Hugh at 5/08/2009 12:21:00 PM
In the lead-up to National Bike to Work Week, the Kansas City, Missouri, Council has adopted a wide-ranging Bike/Ped Action Plan.

This plan is the first major accomplishment of the new Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee, chaired by Eric Rogers (also on the MoBikeFed's board).

Eric writes:
The plan contains dozens of steps to be taking during the 2009-2010 fiscal year. In addition trail and bike lane projects that have already been funded, there are goals for better policy, expanded educational programs, and such. This plan is the city’s first significant step towards the goal of becoming designated as a Platinum level Bike Friendly City by 2020.
You can download the plan as a PDF to see the details.

The State should link these towns together by building trails on River levys and next to or on rail corridors. To make Missouri a bicycle friendly state comparable to Wisconsin and others.
