St Louis Greats Streets gets funding, KC bike/ped looking for funding

Today it was announced the Great Streets initiative on South Grand in St. Louis will receive $2.7 million in funding. The project builds on other, very successful projects in St. Louis that have helped areas redevelop by calming traffic, improving streetscapes, and making areas more bicycle and pedestrian friendly.

Kansas City is working on a plan that would bring about $90 million in funding to an array of transit, freight, road, bicycle, and pedestrian projects.

The funding request includes several million to repair streets, complete and repair sidewalks, and implement a comprehensive program to improve the city for walking and bicycling similar to the very successful GetAbout Columbia initiative.
