Kansas City pedestrian enforcement effort

A group in the Kansas City area has worked with local law enforcement officials to create regular pedestrian enforcement efforts.

The efforts target behavior like not stopping for pedestrians in crosswalks, as well as pedestrian behavior like jaywalking.

The result?
If you wanted evidence that Kansas City is the 20th-most-dangerous metro area for pedestrians, look no further than results from a crackdown in crosswalk enforcement.

Police today reported that they handed out 122 tickets to drivers who failed to yield to pedestrians and 11 tickets for other traffic violations.
