Submitted by Brent Hugh on Fri, 03/22/2013 - 3:23pm
Municipal elections are being held across Missouri April 2nd, 2013. For many of these elections, absentee ballots are available already.
- Proposition P - Arch, Trails, & Public Parks tax vote in St. Louis City & St. Louis County (info sheet, St Louis American editorial, West End Word article, St. Louis Post-Dispatch article, Post-Dispatch editorial, Yes on Prop P web site). The proposal is for a 3/16 cent sales tax (about 2 cents on each $11 purchase); the majority of funding goes to cities & counties in the region for parks and trails and to Great Rivers Greenway to expand and accelerate its trails & bicycle route system.

Municipal elections are especially important to bicycle and pedestrian issues, since many bicycle and pedestrian issues play out at the municipal level.
And this year there is in interesting list of bicycle and pedestrian advocates running for office in Missouri--stay tuned for more details. And of you know of candidates that are particularly bicycle/pedestrian friendly, please leave a comment--we'd love to know about them.
