Last and most difficult piece of Kansas City's Brush Creek Trail nearly complete
BikeWalkKC is reporting that the last piece of a major trail project in the heart of Kansas City is nearly complete. The trail links the Plaza, the UMKC area, and many neighborhoods on the city's east side. The trail has been a multi-decade project that started with a major flood control project along Brush Creek and saw many setbacks and obstacles before the final pieces fell into place just recently.
The last phase of the Troost Avenue bridge replacement over Brush Creek is almost finished, finally filling a big gap in the Brush Creek Trail. The trail is now completely separated from the street from the Madison Avenue on the Country Club Plaza all the way to Elmwood Avenue on the East Side.
This final piece of the trail is culmination of much hard work by the City's Parks and Public Works Departments, the Mayor and City Council, the Brush Creek Community Partners, and the leadership of Congressman Emanual Cleaver. BikeWalkKC extends the thanks of the bike/ped community to everyone involved in this project.
