A major trail project in the Warrensburg area is moving forward:

The Johnson County Spirit Trail Coalition will seek first phase construction bids after drainage right-of-way issues are resolved, grants administrator Randy White said Tuesday.

White, executive director of the Pioneer Trails Regional Planning Commission, said the design phase along Route DD, from the Lake Ridge subdivision to County Road Northeast 501st Road, is complete. That portion of the trail “is the base bid,” he said, “but there may be alternates that allow it to go farther.”

The coalition plans to extend the current trail along Route DD through Knob Noster State Park and on to Whiteman Air Force Base.
