Demolition crews detonated the northern portion of the Fairfax Bridge truss from the north bank to the Missouri levee at 11:45 a.m.

Crews are making way for a new span, which will be one bridge with multiple lanes and bike/pedestrian access.

The new U.S. 69 Highway Bridge is scheduled to open in December 2016.
