The Adventure Cycling Association has just completed a four-year project that will make it easier for those on bicycles to hit the Mother Road.

The nonprofit released a set of six waterproof, tear-proof maps that cover all eight states that Route 66 traverses, and includes input from local cycling organizations, government agencies and tourism bureaus.

Ginny Sullivan, ACA's director of travel initiatives, said the vision for the route was the same as the original: To connect the main streets of rural and urban communities. It will "explore the American heartland's natural beauty, history and funky out-of-the-way places.”

MoBikeFed comment: We are very pleased to have been able to partner with the Adventure Cycling Association and other bicycle groups across Missouri to help Adventure Cycling determine the route and create the maps for the Missouri portion of the route.

This is a major new cross-state bicycle route in Missouri.
