The Johnson County Trail Coalition was formed in July 2012 with the goal of exploring alternative transportation opportunities County-wide.

The coalition is made up of individuals from the City of Warrensburg, University of Central Missouri (UCM), Whiteman AFB, Knob Noster State Park, and Johnson County Commission (i.e. Bill Gabel, Presiding Commissioner; Paula Hopkins, Warrensburg Administer; Mike Racy, UCM Strategic Planner; Dan Files, Missouri Dept. of Natural Resources; Brig. Gen. Tom Bussiere, Cmdr. 509th Bomb Wing).

The first focus for the Coalition is the seven-mile multi-modal link from the City of Warrensburg east to Knob Noster, Knob Noster State Park and Whiteman Air Force Base.
