Better sidewalks and trail connectivity were among the suggestions local residents offered Tuesday afternoon to the Joplin Area Transportation Study Organization.

Those who turned out to offer input for the long-range transportation plan were particularly interested in seeing better options for pedestrians.

As a stream of people trickled into the chambers of the Joplin City Council for the open house, attendees chatted with officials and had the opportunity to fill out comment cards asking about measures to improve mobility and changes in transportation for the region.

Information gathered at the open house is to be incorporated into a plan that will guide work on city, county and state roads. JATSO covers a metropolitan planning area that includes Joplin, Webb City and Carl Junction.
