FBI crime statistics reveal bicycle thefts cost Americans an average of $350 million each year. A group of victims in Kansas City is waging a war on the people targeting our area's increasing interest in cycling.

Andrea Fowles had her bicycle stolen from a popular Westport entertainment area. "We go inside, there's a line there's a line, so there are even people outside by the bikes, and we were in there for maybe an hour or two, came back out, and the bike was gone," she explained. . . .

Andrea helped start the social media campaign "Stolen Bikes KC" -- a Twitter and Facebook community with the goal of getting their bikes back. Users share stories and pictures, offering tips to prevent future crimes.
