In the City of Laurie, sidewalks don't go so smoothly.

Consternation among the local populace and the Board of Aldermen has resulted in numerous questions, and some large doubts, about the whole idea. In a statement to the board and public at a meeting on July 14, Laurie Mayor Scott Fahrer suggested the project be ceased due to lack of public support.

"I have spoken to many people in reference to the sidewalk project," says Fahrer. "They are not in favor of this project."

In that same statement, Fahrer pointed out that the board and himself were elected to support the people, and he is concerned that the public feels they are not being represented. Recent activities by the board seem to have put the folks of Laurie on edge, such as the proposed smoking ban and this project.

However, the mayor also thinks it will go forward.
