Trailnet Executive Director: Red-light, speed cameras important for road safety; laws should be fixed : STLToday

Headlines are quick hits from media outlets from Missouri and around the world. Follow the headline link for the full story. The source of this headline says:

Let’s face it, in the St. Louis region, reckless driving is apparent on the streets every day, particularly speeding and running red lights. Improving the safety of our streets for all who walk, bike and drive is urgent, and more traffic enforcement, not less, is what’s needed. . . .

The Missouri Supreme Court decisions against red-light and speed camera programs will not and should not end the practice of using camera-based traffic enforcement. Municipal ordinances can be amended to comply with these court decisions. It’s in the public interest that red-light and speed cameras continue to be in the enforcement toolkit.
