Plans for developing the western leg of the Washington riverfront trail got some potentially good news from the Army Corps of Engineers. . . .

The city acquired the property in January. The new section covers about 30 acres and could support about 3 miles’ worth of trails, Dunkle said. The city now has land along the Missouri River, from South Point west to St. John’s Creek.

MoBikeFed comment: This is good news not only because it will add a major new section to the riverfront trail in Washington, but also because the riverfront trail is part of a planned connection between the Katy Trail--just north of the river from Washington--and the planned Rock Island trail, which will terminate just southeast of Washington.
