A cross-country cyclist experienced the hospitality of Pacific when a minor traffic accident landed him in the Red Cross Disaster Shelter set up in the Tri-County Senior Center at 800 W. Union.

Thirty-year-old Josh Freidman, a Chicago resident, was cycling on Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles, as he relocates to San Francisco. He had spent the night at the KOA campgrounds in Eureka and was on his way to his next overnight stay in Rolla when he was broadsided near the intersection of West Osage and Hoven Drive by an SUV entering West Osage.

The slow moving vehicle sent him tumbling into the street.
