The drunken driver who ran a red light and hit a bicyclist in Springfield earlier this month has been charged with two felonies, police say.

Jeffrey Maloney, 40, was driving a truck west on Sunshine Street at 6:06 p.m. June 10 when he struck the bicyclist, then fled the scene, according to a press release from Springfield police.

Court documents say Maloney had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.227 percent.

The release said the bicyclist, Kevin Fisher, was crossing Sunshine on Kimbrough Avenue on a green a light when he was struck. Fisher, 44, was severely injured and is still in the hospital, the release said.
