Hiking and Nature Trail opens in Laurie, MO | Lake News

Headlines are quick hits from media outlets from Missouri and around the world. Follow the headline link for the full story. The source of this headline says:

Karen Dobbins, chairman of the Laurie Enhancement Committee and Marvin and Lucy Silliman, chairmen of the Missouri Master Naturalists Trail Project, Lake of the Ozarks Chapter, officially announce the opening and dedication of the Laurie Nature and Hiking Trail.

The hiking trail is located behind the Laurie baseball field on RA Highway. Marvin Silliman states, “The LOMMN blazed, cleared and marked the .75 mile trail. The trail winds through the wooded area to provide hikers with a hearty .75 trek. Future plans for the trail include tree and plant identification and educational opportunities.”

MoBikeFed comment: The entire Lake of the Ozarks region is a prime vacation and summer home region, but is severely lacking in trails and bikeways. It stands out on the Strava Cycling & Running heatmap as a region of the state with high demand that is not being met:

Trails like this are at least the beginning of the solution to this problem.
