The completion of the Perkins Park walking trail, discussion regarding the Spring Town Bridge, and this year’s summer recreation program highlighted the July 20 Plattsburg Park Board meeting.

City Administrator Joe Trotter passed out a map showing that phases one and two of the walking trail have been completed with the third phase to be completed this fall. With the completion of phase three, the trail would end near the tennis courts. The fourth and final phase would address the hill to the T-ball field and the crossing over back flow water from the creek to tie back into the original portion of the trail. This final phase is scheduled for completion in 2017. . . .

The walking trail construction project is a joint effort between the Plattsburg Rotary Club, the Park Board, and Cameron Regional Medical Foundation. The hospital’s Foundation Board donated $15,000 over the next three years to use for completion of the trail.

MoBikeFed comment: Walking and biking trails like this trail in Plattsburg are increasingly a priority in communities large and small across Missouri.
