Rock Island Trail progress update by MoRIT Executive Director - Gasconade County Republican

Headlines are quick hits from media outlets from Missouri and around the world. Follow the headline link for the full story. The source of this headline says:

“I often use Owensville as an example of what a great asset the trail will be to the community,” said Greg Harris noting the local desire for developing a trail out to the R-2 schools. “Personally, I think this trail is going to happen from the communities on out.”

Connecting the communities along the trail with development of short segments is anticipated as the likely progression to eventually create a 144-mile long continuous biking and hiking corridor from Beaufort west to Windsor. The first 47-mile stretch from Pleasant Hill to Windsor is “mapped as a trail state park,” said Harris and connect with the 240-mile long Katy Trail to the greater Kansas City area.

Rails have been removed from Owensville east to U.S. 50 east of Gerald.
