Zimmermann said the preliminary plans have been submitted for the sidewalk project which are funded by a Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) grant.

Plans call for 8-foot sidewalks on Clark Avenue, and 6-foot sidewalks on the north side of State Street from Clark Avenue to Westmoreland Avenue. Construction is slated for next year.

Zimmermann said that sidewalks will be installed on the east side of Clark Street to be used by children who are dropped off at the elementary school.

“It gives a place for kids to go to walk to the crosswalk,” he said.

The project includes painted crosswalks as well.
