With the launch of its new online traffic cycling course, the American Bicycling Education Association (ABEA) is ready to take things to the next level. The first I Am Traffic event in 2013 resulted in the formation of ABEA in 2014. At IAT2 we'll develop the strategies to expand upon our successes and begin to mainstream quality cyclist education by using the many marketing and social media tools available across the Web.\
This year’s event will be held within the Cortex Innovation Community, a technology hub in St. Louis’ Central West End. We plan at least four tracks you can choose from, in which you’ll learn skills and share your ideas on how to make cyclist education accessible, popular and effective.
About the Event
I Am Traffic 2 will be a hands-on event where you will help American Bicycling Education Association build strategies for promoting and expanding our educational programs and strengthening our rights as cyclists. The Friday night plenary will set the stage, and Saturday's sessions will develop the strategies.
Friday Night Plenary
ABEA's board and staff will provide an overview of where we stand as an organization, so our supporters will understand just what's needed for us to succeed. Then two national leaders in transportation planning and engineering -- Billy Hattaway of the Florida Department of Transportation and Shawn Leight of the Institute for Transportation Engineers -- will take the stage to explore and discuss how cycling educators and roadway designers can work together to maximize cyclist safety and mobility. Reception at 6 PM, followed by program at 7 PM. Free and open to the public.
