Joplin Trails Coalition organizes volunteers to clean, beautify Ruby Jack Trail | News | joplinglobe.com

Headlines are quick hits from media outlets from Missouri and around the world. Follow the headline link for the full story. The source of this headline says:

Dan Diehl ducked under one tree limb and pulled another aside as he weaved his way through brush along the Ruby Jack Trail. He grabbed two plastic bottles, both covered with dirt and grime, and tossed them into a bucket full of other trash he collected before continuing down the trail.

Diehl, a member of the Joplin Trails Coalition, volunteered to help clean up a stretch of the Ruby Jack just west of Carl Junction on Friday.

“I’m certainly supportive of cleaning up the trails,” Diehl said. “It’s good to do something good, and even though I’m just picking up trash, you do a little bit and it looks a lot better.”

A dozen or so others joined Diehl for several hours, some with chainsaws and loppers, to cut down small trees and branches that threaten to overgrow sections of the trail.
