Walking, cycling trails advocated for Crawford County KS - joining with trails plans in NW AR and SW MO | joplinglobe.com

Headlines are quick hits from media outlets from Missouri and around the world. Follow the headline link for the full story. The source of this headline says:

Cycling advocates were joined by public officials from Pittsburg and Crawford County for a ride around Pittsburg on Tuesday in an effort to understand some of the challenges faced by people who use or need alternative transportation.

The ride was part of a campaign to promote the expansion of a network of walking and cycling trails in Southeast Kansas.

It is just one of a number of such efforts under development in the region.

Before the ride, Live Well Crawford County, which advocates for healthy lifestyles and choices in Southeast Kansas, made a presentation to the Crawford County Commission on a master plan for hiking and cycling trails. That master plan was developed by the PedNet Coalition in Columbia, Missouri, said Brad Stroud, director of Live Well Crawford County.

MoBikeFed comment: This entire region - NW Arkansas, SW Missouri, and SE Kansas - is coming together to become a major bicycle and trails tourism region.
