Headlines are quick hits from media outlets from Missouri and around the world. Follow the headline link for the full story. The source of this headline says:

Until recently, northeast Columbia residents who wanted to walk to the city trails had one big roadblock — Interstate 70. And then the Columbia Parks and Recreation Department decided to burrow underneath.

The newly completed Hominy Creek Trail connects northeast Columbia to the city trails through a tunnel under I-70. The trail begins near Woodridge Park at Lansing Avenue and crawls northward to The Links at Columbia apartments. . . .

Skala said he is proud of the project, particularly because it provides a new link to the city for residents in northeast Columbia. But he said the noise from the interstate inside the trail tunnel could be a subject for future discussion.
