For the past month, St. Joseph community members have been using the free self-service bicycles through the Pony Express Bike Share program.

Rodney Linn, a volunteer who helps repair and restock bike share bikes, said that out of their fleet of 40 two-wheelers, only seven bikes have not been seen back for repairs since the program launched Aug. 2. . . .

Linn said he typically replaces fixed bikes at the seven bike rack locations spread through Downtown by the middle of the week, but has realized that many people have been exploiting the suggested four-hour time limit. . . .
The sustainability and expansion of Pony Express Bike Share is dependent on the community’s involvement, and the organization is looking for other businesses to sponsor future bike rack locations around town.
