USBRS: Missouri set to bring U.S. Bicycle Route 66 into the national USBR system this spring | Adventure Cycling Association

Headlines are quick hits from media outlets from Missouri and around the world. Follow the headline link for the full story. The source of this headline says:

Ever since Adventure Cycling finished mapping Bicycle Route 66, a dedicated team has been hard at work securing the necessary agreements to officially designate U.S. Bicycle Route 66. Drawing from the transportation, tourism, and bike advocacy worlds, this team has seen their successes reported by several local news outlets — and their enthusiasm may even be spreading to neighboring states who share the historic Route 66 heritage.

MoBikeFed comment: We have been working hard with local Route 66 supporters up and down the Missouri portion of the route, MoDOT, and the Adventure Cycling Association to be sure the Missouri is the first state to officially bring its section of USBR 66 into the national U.S. Bicycle Route system.

The official announcement and ribbon-cutting for USBR 66 is planned for Sunday, June 17th in Joplin at the kickoff for BigBAM--which will ride Bicycle Route 66 across Missouri this year.
