Enjoy a beautiful rural ride on the gently rolling hills of southern Jackson and Cass counties. The ride features full SAG service and traditional “extra” goodies including frozen treats to keep you cool. A the Raymore SAG stop there will be a picnic lunch. This is an official training ride for the AIDS Bicycle Challenge, Sept. 12. The ride offers perfect distances to train for fall tours with our 45, 70, & 100 mile routes.

CHELLEY'S SUMMER RIDE
(M,F,VF) The ride leaves from Chelley's Mexican Restaurant just east of Wornall on 85th St and travels to the Plaza and back. Then to the restaurant for food, drink and socializing. It's about an 18 mile ride.

Optional quaffing after the ride at the Brooksider, if we prefer outdoors. If indoors, then Jalapeno's. (The Brooksider is too noisy inside.) Lights not required, but if you have them, bring them.
We try to be back before dark, and Turtles are a punctual form of life.

No monster hills but plenty of consecutive medium ones that will put the burn in your legs. Meet at the Summit Athletic Club parking lot just west of the I-29 and 64th Street (45 Highway) intersection in Picture Hills Shopping Center. The address is 6501 North Cosby. - The morning rides to Fort Osage, Sibley, and Buckner continue through the winter as long as the temperature is above 35 and the roads are dry. We leave from the new parking lot at Necessary and RD Mize at 8:30 am. The loop is 35 miles, although sometimes we stretch it to 50. It is possible to split off at Buckner and go on to Wellington, Lexington, or even Richmond. The pace averages about 15 mph.

- The Urban Challenge is a race through and around Springfield pitting teams against each other to complete the course the fastest using a variety of transportation modalities (bus, bike, run, and boat). *New in 2010-Teams of two will compete in Co-ed, Men’s, or Women’s categories!
Participants will encounter both mental and physical challenges during the race, requiring quick thinking and strong team-work skills. All participants must be 18 years old & up by September 24.

- The ride starts at 7:45 AM from Longview College Recreational Center Parking Lot. Very Social! Just 10 miles around Longview Lake approximate speed 12/13 MPH.
A second ride starts at 8:45 AM from the same place, 20 miles or 30 miles. Many riders come and ride the early ride to warm up and then also do one of the longer rides at 8:45. Approximate speed 15 to 17 MPH for the 20 mile ride and 17 to 20 MPH for the 30 mile ride.
Rides go all year provided the temperature is above 50 degrees.
