The Kansas City community is invited to join the 8th annual Kansas City Ride of Silence on May 21, 2014 at 7:00 pm.  The Ride of Silence will begin in North America and will roll across the globe because each ride starts at 7 pm local time. Cyclists will take to the roads in a silent procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways.

Date:                     Wednesday, May 21, 2014

Location:              W 62nd St and Brookside Blvd, Kansas City, MO (start and finish)

Meet Time:        6:45 p.m. for brief ceremony

Ride Time:           7:00 p.m. to about 8:00 p.m.

Distance:                             6 miles

As in all rides associated with the national Ride of Silence organization, there are no sponsors and no registration fees.  Just show up with your bike AND HELMET at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday May 15, 2013 for a brief Ride of Silence ceremony and then a slow silent ride of about 6 miles from Brookside through the Country Club Plaza to Westport and then back.  All ages are welcome. The KCMBC Race Team will lead the ride and riders will stop to regroup a few times.  Lights and reflective clothing are encouraged.

All roads are regularly used by motorists, with no special accommodation for bicycles. Please obey all traffic laws and practice safe riding etiquette. Bicycle helmets are required. The ride may be cancelled in the event of severe weather.

Please join us in 2014, to remember those killed and to celebrate their love of the simple act of riding a bicycle.
