Description:
Construction of solid 6 ft. shoulders on both sides of Hwy 65 from the south city limit of Chillicothe south to the junction of Hwy Z.
Importance:
This stretch of Hwy 65 is utilized by cyclists in the area to access rural roads south of Chillicothe and is also part of a 23 mile loop. Bridges on Hwy 65 and Hwy 36 are the only way to cross the Grand Rvier and access roads south of Chillicothe.
Current shoulders are not wide enough on the section of Hwy 65 that is directly south of Shoal Creek to the Jct of Hwy Z. This section is also on a climb and is very dangerous for cyclists with the large volume of commercail truck traffic on this section of the Hwy.
Obstacles:
None, as long as shoulders do not exceed 6 feet.
