Missouri High Priority Bike/Ped/ADA Projects

Hermann Bridge/Katy connector (03MOS1001)

Status:

City: Hermann.    Route: Hwy 19    Location: From north side of Hermann Bridge to Katy Trail

Type: Trail

Description:
Create a path leading from the north end of the Hermann Bridge bike/ped path to the Katy Trail. Currently to make the connection, trail users must follow a circuitous route or push through a dirt path to ride or walk along Hwy 19 to connect to the Katy Trail.

Importance:
Small, inexpensive, short connecting piece between a major, expensive project (Hermann Bridge) and the Katy Trail. This will be very well used. North of the bridge there is a connector trail to the shoulder, it would add a level of comfort to walkers and casual riders if they had a protected trail away from the road North of the Bond Bridge to the Katy Trail. The small section of trail from Bond to shoulder is low lying and prone to flooding. After a flood mud and other washed up debris is slow to clean up making this section of trail unusable. Also cyclists, runners and others would not have to worry about rocks and other debris that quickly collects on the shoulders.
